A cooking aficionada who loves food
Growing up as I did in a quaint fishing village on the east side of the Rock of Gibraltar, one of my first and a foremost memory is that of my grandfather and my great uncle pulling up on a rowing boat. I don’t know why this is, but I can still picture them there to this day, and in my mind the picture I see is quite vivid, and most probably my own perception of reality. My other memory is of my grandmother cooking in her kitchen. I remember a really long kitchen in which she had a modern (well as modern as the 1960’s could be) range and an old fashioned coal oven, as well as a fridge and an ice box.
There are many happy memories associated with that kitchen. I wish I had an old photo of it to share with you, but I haven’t been able to trace one (hint hint to any of you who might have one). My Grandmother was a fantastic cook who could whizz up a meal with even the most rudimentary of ingredients, and she is my main inspiration and the reason behind my love of cooking.
I have always been asked by people who learn of my love of cooking, and most especially those who have actually sampled my cooking, to share my recipes on the internet, which is what this site is all about.
If you only take one recipe away from here, well I’ll consider this a job well done. Food is how we feed the body , but food shared with family or friends is how we nourish our hearts.
I hope that I can bring you a little of our Gibraltarian traditions, and show you some new ways of cooking old favourites, as well as giving you a little insight into my life and the Gibraltarian way of life…(at least how I perceive it).
If you want to contact me , leave a comment below or head on to the contacts details and email me, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
In the meantime ..read on and hopefully ENJOY.
